CCO’s Transition to Test Center Testing

August 4, 2023—CCO is excited to release details on Test Center Testing (TCT), the newest way for candidates to take CCO written exams.

Computer-based testing (CBT) will sunset at the end of 2023. However, CCO received industry feedback relating to some areas having insufficient internet access to support Online Proctored Testing (OPT), individuals preferring not to use their personal computers, and a preference to go to a test center. Due to this feedback, CCO elected to explore an alternative testing method which resulted in the creation of TCT.

What is TCT?

TCT exams are delivered via computer at a facility established specifically for administering secure exams. Candidates will still apply for exams through their myCCO portal. Once the application is approved, candidates will be able to schedule the exam appointment within two business days through their myCCO portal.

The TCT exams are delivered utilizing the same platform as CCO’s Event Online Testing (EOT) and Online Proctored Testing (OPT) modalities. From the candidate perspective, this means that everything from applying to scheduling and taking exams will be similar no matter how they choose to test.

Additionally, candidates will be able to switch from one method of exam delivery to another at no cost.

TCT will use a testing center network of nearly 600 sites across the country.

With the ease of scheduling, rescheduling, changing exam delivery method, as well as the vast increase in testing centers, candidates will have unprecedented access and flexibility to take CCO exams when and where they please.

Transition Timeline

Candidates will be able to submit applications for CBT testing through September 26, 2023. Candidates will have until the end of the year to take those exams.

On September 27, 2023, candidates may apply for TCT exams. TCT scheduling will be available on October 2, 2023.

Any candidate who has already been approved to take an EOT or OPT exam may opt to schedule at a TCT site when scheduling becomes available in October.
